Watershed Planning

Overview

The Strafford region lies within the Piscataqua River Basin and is part of a coastal watershed that drains to the Great Bay Estuary before entering the Gulf of Maine. As a result, our tidal rivers and wetlands are closely interconnected with the health of our marine and estuarine environments. Freshwater resources, such as our rivers, lakes, and ponds provide drinking water, recreational opportunities, and wildlife habitat. Planning for resilience when it comes to our water resources not only protects the quality of our waters, but our own health and safety.
