Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy

Overview

SRPC maintains a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for our region that provides an overview of our region’s economic conditions and opportunities. The CEDS is updated annually on a five-year cycle. A five-year CEDS update is a complete overhaul of the visioning, goal setting, and selection of themes relevant to the region’s economy. Subsequent annual updates track progress towards implementation of the five-year CEDS, including data and project updates.

The CEDS includes a Priority Project List that consists of implementation projects by SRPC, our municipalities, and strategic public and non-profit-sector partners. Adding a project to a CEDS priority project list is a threshold requirement for some EDA funding programs. For non-EDA state and federal programs, including a project on the CEDS list or aligning it with regional CEDS goals and priorities can increase its competitiveness.

SRPC has maintained a CEDS since 2011. The most recent five-year update was adopted in 2021. Contact program staff for more information or to submit a project for consideration for the Priority Project List.
