Hazard Mitigation

Overview

SRPC has assisted municipalities with updates to their local hazard mitigation plans since 2008. Local hazard mitigation plans are a prerequisite for a municipality to be eligible to receive hazard mitigation grant funds through FEMA and NH HSEM, and the plans must be updated every five years.  At a minimum, each plan must consider the applicability of all natural hazards identified in the latest State Hazard Mitigation Plan as adopted by NH HSEM.  Mitigation actions are the responsibility of individuals, businesses, industries, and local, state, and federal governments. As of November 2014, all communities within the Strafford Region have a FEMA approved Hazard Mitigation Plan.
