Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Joint Land Use Study

Starting in 2019, SRPC participated in a joint land use study (JLUS) facilitated by the Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission. The JLUS was a collaborative planning initiative between the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and the town of Kittery, Maine with participation from multiple regional and state stakeholders. The overall goal is to preserve military readiness and defense capabilities while supporting continued community growth and economic development. The JLUS provides a blueprint for actions that mutually benefit the shipyard and the town of Kittery.
