Project Description
In 2023, the Newmarket Planning Department began working with the Strafford Regional Planning Commission and a Master Plan Subcommittee to update the entire Master Plan. While several chapters have been updated over the past couple of years, the whole plan has not been updated since 2001. The planning process will engage the community in creating a vision and actionable strategies for achieving that vision over the next 10 years. When complete, the new Master Plan will include the following chapters: Vision; Housing; Land & Water Conservation; Arts, Culture and Historic Resources; Community Facilities and Utilities; Downtown Riverfront Design Plan; Economic Development; Energy; Recreation; Existing and Future Land Use; Transportation; and Implementation. The Planning Board will adopt each Chapter upon completion, with the full Master Plan being completed by the Summer of 2025.
Opportunities to Provide Feedback
Both surveys have concluded. The second master plan workshop was held September 14, 2024. Many of the town’s committees and boards are involved in the Master Plan. Check out the Town’s meeting calendar and meeting agendas for the boards to see when you can participate. Alternatively, Principal Planner Kerrie Diers (right) may be able to connect you with the SRPC staff member involved in the chapter you are interested in.
A design charrette is being held for the Downtown Riverfront Friday & Saturday, October 18 & 19 at Town Hall. See details on the Town’s website: newmarketnh.gov/planning-and-community-development/events/128376
