Regional Impact Committee

The process for review of developments of regional impact is governed by RSA 36:54-58. According to RSA 36:54, the purpose of developments of regional impact is to:

I. Provide timely notice to potentially affected municipalities concerning proposed developments which are likely to have impacts beyond the boundaries of a single municipality.
II. Provide opportunities for the regional planning commission and the potentially affected municipalities to furnish timely input to the municipality having jurisdiction.
III. Encourage the municipality having jurisdiction to consider the interests of other potentially affected municipalities.

The Regional Impact Committee is a subcommittee of SRPC commissioners responsible for reviewing Developments of Regional Impact that have been referred to SRPC by a local land use board. The committee convenes at the call of the chair to compile and provide testimony regarding the potential impacts of a proposed project beyond the borders of a town in which it is to be located.
