Arts and Culture Inventory Web Map

The Arts and Culture Inventory is meant to be a very broad inventory of sites, events, and locations that have any importance to local arts and culture. It is a continuous inventory collected in part by the staff of the Strafford Regional Planning Commission and our partners. The rest of the sites come from submissions from the public.

The list below shows the various categories of sites collected for this inventory, including examples of the different kinds of sites you can find within each category:

  • Art and Music Education: Art schools, music schools, dance academies, locations where art and music lessons occur;
  • Museums / Venues / Galleries: Art galleries, ballrooms, comedy clubs, exhibition spaces, museums, music studios, music venues, performance spaces;
  • Clubs / Groups: Art councils or commissions, book clubs, chambers of commerce, community development and citizens’ groups, community orchestras, crafts clubs, photography clubs, rotary clubs, writers groups;
  • Events: Arts workshops, concert series, craft fairs, farmers markets, festivals, holiday activities, parades;
  • Public Art Installations and Memorials: Business art installations, memorials, murals, public art installations, statues;
  • Historical: Historical buildings, markers, monuments, and societies;
  • Retail: Antique stores, arts supply shops, bookstores, breweries, farms, vineyards, music stores, outdoor recreation stores, record stores;
  • Community: Community centers, libraries, community spaces, cooperatives, places of worship, visitor information centers;
  • Agritourism: Farms with public access, apple picking, pumpkin patches, berry picking, campgrounds, beekeeping, Christmas tree farms, hay rides, farm to table, corn mazes.
