Position: Regional Planner

Seeking a Regional Planner who has working knowledge of transportation, hazard mitigation, economic development, and natural resources principles and regulations to work for a regional planning commission in Dover, NH. Person will work independently and collaboratively with other professionals under direction of Executive Director. Responsibilities will span the spectrum of current planning projects. Position duties include: research, preparation of reports, plans, ordinances, and regulations, facilitation of committees, public speaking, technical assistance, coordination of community activities, and contract management of locally/federally funded projects.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in natural resources, GIS, community development, urban planning, or public administration. Applicants must have:

-Excellent computer skills including MS Windows/Office software, (GIS a plus), office equipment, and procedures
-Strong ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize assignments effectively.
-Ability to meet deadlines and shift priorities and meeting dates as requested.
-Keen attention to detail and documentation for contract management.
-Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
-Interpersonal skills to deal with a variety of personalities and work styles.
-Ability to share work information and submit draft work products for review before completion or submission to funding sources or publication.
-Familiarity with or willingness to learn procedures necessary for writing river nomination plans, updating hazard mitigation plans, scenic byway plans, comprehensive economic development strategies, water resource protection plans, funding proposals.
-Willingness to participate in night meetings as requested with state and municipal officials, volunteer groups, commissioners, and make educational presentations to these groups as requested.
